Nitish Kumar quits as Bihar CM, Governor nod

JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar on Wednesday submitted his resignation as the head of the outgoing NDA government in Bihar to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, state BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal said.The governor accepted his resignation and asked him to continue as caretaker CM till a new government is formed, he said.Earlier in the day, Kumar was chosen as the leader of the NDA in Bihar during a meeting of newly elected MLAs of the alliance partners here.The NDA stormed back to power in Bihar, winning 202 seats in the 243-member assembly, with BJP bagging 89, JD(U) 85, LJP(RV) 19, HAM 5 and RLM 4.

FPIs pull out over Rs 1 lakh crore in September quarter, select counters still advance

As foreign investors sold shares worth Rs 1.02 lakh crore in the September quarter, the focus has been on companies that have seen the biggest changes in their shareholdings. Financial services firms, especially non-banking finance companies, saw the biggest churn with foreign fund managers cutting their stakes in several mid- and small-sized lenders, according to an ETIG study of the overseas stakes in the country’s top 500 companies. The share price movements of companies that saw increases and decreases in foreign holdings in the quarter, however, did not exhibit a concrete trend. Can Nifty cross 26,100 as global markets drag sentiment?

Mumbai: Key Indian indices ended weak on Tuesday, snapping their six-day rally, as traders cut positions in the wake of weakness in global markets and after Nifty struggled to cross the 26,100 mark.NSE's Nifty fell 103.4 points, or 0.4%, to close at 25,910.05.
