Indian Railways upgrades ticketing system

The Indian Railways is carrying out a major overhaul of its Passenger Reservation System (PRS), which currently has the capacity to book 25,000 tickets per minute, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told Lok Sabha on Wednesday.In a written response to a question on PRS upgrades, Vaishnaw said, "Capacity enhancement and technological upgradation is an ongoing process of Indian Railways. Presently, the booking capacity of the current PRS is about 25,000 tickets per minute."The comprehensive upgrade includes the replacement and enhancement of hardware, software, network equipment, security infrastructure, and functionalities, all built on new technology capable of supporting additional features."The new system is designed for more than four times the present capacity," Vaishnaw added, noting t

Sebi allows Sanjiv Bhasin to trade again after Rs 1 crore deposit following SAT order

Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has directed exchanges to de-freeze Sanjiv Bhasin's trading and demat accounts after the former IIFL director deposited Rs 1 crore with the Sebi in compliance with the Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT).The SAT's August 1 order came on an appeal filed by Bhasin against a Sebi interim order that had barred him from accessing capital markets over alleged stock manipulation."Further, Hon’ble SAT vide order dated August 1, 2025 directed above noticee to deposit a sum of Rs 1 Crore in a fixed deposit with lien mark in favour of SEBI. UltraTech to sell 6.5% stake in India Cements

UltraTech Cement is set to offload up to a 6.5% stake in its unit India Cements via an open market offer for sale, the Committee of Directors and Officers approved on Wednesday.Aditya Birla-owned UltraTech Cement, which took control of India Cements in July last year, did not mention any deal value. Shares of UltraTech Cement Ltd were trading at Rs 12,860 per scrip as on 15:42 PM after 0.03% hike on BSE.The cement giant is set to cross 200 million tonnes of production per annum by the end of FY26, as shared by Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla during AGM.The company added 42.6 MTPA of capacity last year with 16.3 MTPA through organic expansion, and 26.3 MTPA through acquisition of India Cements and Kesoram Industries.The cement giant reported the total production capacity at 188.8 MTPA as on
