Stock market investors lose nearly Rs 10 lakh crore in 2 days of sharp fall on US tariffs

Equity investors became poorer by Rs 9.69 lakh crore in two days of sharp fall in the stock markets, where the benchmark Sensex tumbled 1,555 points. The additional 25 per cent tariff imposed by the US on India came into effect on Wednesday, bringing the total amount of levies imposed on New Delhi to 50 per cent. Also, relentless foreign fund outflows dented investors' sentiment. On Thursday, the 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 705.97 points or 0.87 per cent to settle at 80,080.57. During the day, it dropped 773.52 points or 0.95 per cent to 80,013.02. In two days, the benchmark has plummeted 1,555.34 points or 1.90 per cent. Vaishno Devi landslide: 30 dead in Katra

At least 30 people have died after heavy rains triggered a landslide near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh confirmed the death toll to ANI.The landslide struck around 3 pm on Tuesday near the Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkwari, roughly halfway along the 12-km trek to the shrine. Mumbai: Foreign portfolio investors, relentless net sellers lately in the listed secondary market, are nevertheless betting big on India's world-beating growth story as committed anchor investors in initial public offerings (IPO) of local companies.Collective investments of overseas funds in the anchor books of Indian IPOs surged threefold to ₹26,508 crore in FY25, compared with the previous year. Why are companies withdrawing bond sales amid rising yields?

Mumbai: An end to India's raging bond rally has forced top local companies, such as Housing and Urban Development Corp (Hudco) and non-bank lender Bajaj Finance, to withdraw proposed bond sales, while elevated yields are forcing even state governments to pay more to borrow from the markets.On Tuesday, New Delhi-based Hudco withdrew its bond issue as the coupon bids on its three-year bonds were at least 10 basis points higher than what it was willing to pay.
