Kotak Mahindra Bank and Federal Bank are in the race to purchase the retail and wealth management businesses of Deutsche Bank in India, multiple people familiar with the matter told ET. This is the second attempt in eight years by the German lender to sell this revenue stream in the country.Both private banks have evaluated the portfolio and negotiations are ongoing on the pricing of the deal, said the people cited above. The bundle includes personal loans and some mortgages the bank wants to sell.ET could not evaluate the proportion of personal loans and mortgages in the portfolio. India is set to overtake China to emerge as the second largest market for construction equipment after the US by the turn of this decade, according to Deepak Shetty, managing director of JCB India, the market leader in this segment.Sales of construction equipment in the local market declined by about 10% in the first 10 months of 2025 year on year "largely due to slowdown in disbursal of payments to small contractors by state governments," Shetty said."This year was an aberration....
