Japan's global exports gained 3.7 per cent in October from a year ago, while imports from the world edged up 0.6 per cent, according to government data released Friday. Exports to the US dipped 3.1 per cent, marking the seventh straight month of on-year declines, Finance Ministry data showed. Worries remain about the possible negative impact from US tariffs. President Donald Trump announced a trade framework with Japan in July, placing a 15 per cent tax on goods imported from that nation. That's lower than the 25 per cent rate Trump initially said would kick in starting in August. Previously, tariffs on most goods stood at 2.5 per cent. Godrej Properties on Friday said it has exceeded its FY26 business development guidance of Rs 20,000 crore with the acquisition of a 75-acre land parcel in Nagpur, marking the company’s third project in the city in four years. Four New Labour Codes: In a landmark move aimed at modernising India’s labour governance, the government on Friday implemented the Four Labour Codes—the Code on Wages (2019), Industrial Relations Code (2020), Code on Social Security (2020), and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code (2020)—repealing and rationalising 29 existing central labour laws.Calling it a “historic decision”, the Government said the new framework simplifies decades-old, fragmented labour rules, enhances worker welfare, strengthens safety standards and aligns India’s labour ecosystem with global best practices.
