The General Immigration Directorate (DGME) of Costa Rica has announced new measures affecting visa and entry conditions for foreign travelers. The changes clarify visa exemptions, document validity requirements, and introduce new provisions for specific traveler categories. Under the updated policy, visitors from visa-required nations who are exempt due to holding multiple-entry visas or residence permits from the United States or Canada can only stay in Costa Rica for the duration of the remaining validity of those documents. Similarly, travelers relying on Schengen Category C or D visas for exemption must ensure their visa remains valid for at least 90 days from the date of entry.
