Trading cos line up at IITs with big cheques

Proprietary trading firm Da Vinci Trading offered pay packages of more than Rs 2.8 crore (€272,000) for Amsterdam-based roles to several students at legacy Indian Institutes of Technology, where the final campus placements for the Class of 2026 began Monday.The Dutch firm, which possibly made the biggest offers this year, hired students through a mix of final placement and pre-placement offers (PPOs) from IITs Delhi, Bombay and Kharagpur, sources at these institutes told ET. Its offers include a base salary of Rs 1 crore-plus, as well as joining, relocation and retention bonuses.Algorithmic trading firms including NK Securities (Rs 1.65 crore for a domestic role) and market maker Optiver are also paying high salaries at IITs.The final placements kicked off on a hopeful note across these

Census will be conducted in 2027: Centre

The Government of India has announced plans to conduct the Census in 2027, with the intent notified in the Gazette on June 16, 2025. The Census will be conducted in two phases: Phase I - House Listing and Housing Census, scheduled from April to September 2026, and Phase II - Population Enumeration, set for February 2027.The Population Enumeration will reference March 1, 2027, except for certain regions like Ladakh and snow-bound areas, where it will be conducted in September 2026.Notably, caste enumeration will be included, as per the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs' decision on April 30, 2025.In a written reply, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai told Lok Sabha, "The Government has decided to conduct the Census in 2027. Meesho IPO: Tech firm raises Rs 2,440 crore from marquee anchors including BlackRock, Fidelity and SBI MF

Technology platform Meesho raised Rs 2,440 crore from 125 anchor investors on Tuesday ahead of its initial public offering (IPO) which opens on Wednesday, December 3. The company allocated 21.98 crore shares at the upper price band of Rs 111 apiece. IndiGo gets ₹117.5 cr tax order from CGST

IndiGo parent InterGlobe Aviation on Tuesday said that it received a penalty order of ₹117.52 crore from the Joint Commissioner of Central Tax and Central Excise, CGST Kochi Commissionerate. The order relates to the denial of input tax credit for FY19 and FY22 and was communicated to the company on December 1. The airline said it will contest the demand order that the tax department has issued along with the penalty after disallowing input tax credit (ITC) availed during the period under review. “The department has denied input tax credit (ITC) availed by the Company and has issued a demand order along with penalty.
