Indian cos bond less with dollar in ’25 as price advantage recedes

Dollar bond issuance from India fell around 35% in 2025 from last year, as companies increasingly turned to the domestic rupee bond market to refinance debt, driven by cost considerations and volatile global rates, dealers said.Issuances fell to around $8 billion from $12 billion in 2024, according to debt market sources.The pullback was largely due to lower price advantage in the overseas markets and abundant liquidity locally, which enabled higher-rated companies to refinance upcoming maturities more efficiently through rupee-denominated bonds."Elevated and volatile US Treasury yields made USD funding less attractive, while deep domestic liquidity allowed high-quality issuers to refinance more efficiently in the rupee market," said Shobhit Bahl, head of financing for India at Barclays. Government bonds rally on RBI’s liquidity push

Government bonds rallied after the central bank announced aggressive liquidity infusion measures, including ₹2 lakh crore of bond purchases and a $10 billion dollar-rupee swap.The benchmark yield on 10-year bond closed at 6.54%, down over 9 basis points — its biggest singlesession drop in yields in seven months —responding to the Reserve Bank of India’s proposed liquidity injection. Exports to grow by 3% to $850B this fiscal

New Delhi, India's goods and services exports are likely to grow by 3 per cent to USD 850 billion in 2025-26, think tank GTRI said on Thursday.In 2024-25, the overall exports touched USD 825 billion (USD 438 billion in merchandise and USD 387 billion in services).Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI) said the country's exports in 2026 will face a far tougher global trade environment than it has seen in years.Rising protectionism in advanced economies, weakening global demand and new climate-linked trade barriers are colliding just as India is trying to scale up exports, it said.The result is an outlook marked less by expansion and more by the challenge of holding ground, GTRI founder Ajay Srivastava said."In FY26, goods exports are likely to stay broadly flat, squeezed by weak global dem
