Barclays not too bullish on India FTAs' power

India’s recent spate of signed and proposed free-trade agreements may not be sufficient to offset the impact of US tariffs on the South Asian country’s exports, economists at Barclays Plc said.“While the FTA spree certainly bodes well for making international trade more seamless, it may not necessarily result in higher exports large enough to offset the US tariff-inflicted pain,” Barclays economists Aastha Gudwani and Amruta Ghare wrote in a report on Friday. India remains one of the few major economies without a trade deal with Washington, despite facing a 50% tariff rate — among the highest in the world. GAIL achieves an India-first engineering feat

New Delhi: GAIL (India) Ltd has completed the Mumbai-Nagpur Natural Gas Pipeline (MNPL), a 694-kilometre trunkline built almost entirely inside a 3-metre-wide utility corridor along Maharashtra's Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway, marking India's first major integration of a high-capacity pipeline into a dense transport corridor under the PM-GatiShakti framework. Stretching across 675 km of expressway corridor, the pipeline posed unprecedented engineering and logistical challenges. Conventional pipelines typically require 20-30 metres of workspace; here, GAIL had to install a 24-inch high-capacity gas line within the width of an average footpath while simultaneously coordinating with expressway construction across multiple packages managed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation

Leela Palaces reports 2x net profit in Q3

New Delhi: Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts Ltd on Friday reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 147.88 crore for the third quarter ended December, from Rs 56.40 crore a year ago, on strong revenue growth. The luxury hospitality player, which listed on the stock exchanges in June last year as Schloss Bangalore Pvt Ltd, reported a revenue from operations of Rs 457.43 crore for the third quarter, as against Rs 370.46 crore for the corresponding October-December period of last year, a regulatory filing showed. During the quarter under review, its total expenses also rose to Rs 219.60 crore, from Rs 183.51 crore a year ago.
