BLS International reports revenues of Rs 711 cr for Q1FY26M PAT at Rs 181 crore

US trade gap narrows as imports decline

The US trade gap narrowed in June, government data showed Tuesday, as imports pulled back more than exports while businesses grappled with President Donald Trump's tariffs on allies and competitors alike.The overall trade deficit in the world's biggest economy narrowed by 16 percent to $60.2 billion, down from a revised $71.7 billion figure in May, the Department of Commerce said.The narrowing was more than analysts expected but largely reflected a drop in goods imports -- including consumer goods as Trump's wide-ranging tariffs added to businesses' costs of bringing in foreign products.In April, Trump imposed a 10-percent duty on most US trading partners and he has also slapped much steeper tariffs on steel, aluminum and autos.The June deficit narrowed on the back of a fall in imports, by

India not a good trade partner, says Trump

India has not been a good trading partner, said US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, adding that he would increase the tariff charged on imports from India from the current rate of 25% "very substantially" over the next 24 hours, given India's continued purchases of Russian oil."They're fueling the war machine, and if they're going to do that, then I'm not going to be happy," Trump told CNBC in an interview. India Inc bullish as confidence index rises

The Business Confidence Index (BCI) rose sharply to 149.4 in the April-June period from 139.3 in the last quarter of 2024-25, according to the Business Expectations Survey of National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER). NCAER in a statement said the BCI is based on four components -- overall economic conditions to improve in next six months, financial position of firms will improve in the next six months, present investment climate and whether present capacity utilisation was close to or above optimal level. The share of positive responses across the four components remains above 60 per cent in the first quarter and also each component exhibited improving trend compared to the preceding quarter, the statement added.
