The government on Monday introduced a new bill in the Lok Sabha to decriminalise as many as 288 provisions relating to minor offences under different laws with a view to promote ease of living and improve business climate. This is the second Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill. Earlier in 2023, the government enacted a similar law decriminalising 183 provisions in 42 central Acts, administered by 19 ministries and departments. Introducing the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill 2025, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said it seeks to enhance trust-based governance for ease of doing business. Hindustan Zinc, a subsidiary of Vedanta, on Monday announced the setting up of a 10 MTPA tailings teprocessing plant as part of the Company’s overall growth plan to double the capacity.The plant will be set up at a capital cost of Rs 3,823 crore and aims to recover metal from the tailing dumps. "This one-of-a-kind plant, a first in India, will enable reduction of environmental footprint associated with traditional wet tailings disposal, enhance HZL's overall mineral recovery and usher in improved sustainability," the company said in a release.
