Are NSE and BSE closed on July 7 for Muharram 2025?

Muharram, the first month of the Islamic Hijri calendar and one of Islam's four sacred months, began on June 27 this year. It holds deep spiritual significance, symbolising sacrifice, peace, and unity. The 10th day of Muharram, known as Ashura, falls on Sunday, July 6, and is observed differently across Islamic communities, with mourning processions by Shia Muslims and fasting by Sunni Muslims.Since Ashura falls on a Sunday, there will be no additional public holiday on Monday, July 7. As a result, all government offices, banks, post offices, schools, and stock markets will remain open on that day. M-cap of 6 of top 10 most valued firms drops by Rs 70,325 crore; HDFC, ICICI Bank top drags

The combined market valuation of six of the top-10 valued firms eroded by Rs 70,325.5 crore last week, with HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank emerging as the worst-hit in line with a bearish trend in equities. Last week, the BSE benchmark Sensex dropped 626.01 points or 0.74 per cent. In the top-10 pack, Reliance Industries, State Bank of India, Infosys and Hindustan Unilever Ltd were the gainers, while HDFC Bank, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and Bajaj Finance faced erosion from their market valuation. HDFC Bank's valuation declined by Rs 19,284.8 crore to Rs 15,25,339.72 crore. ICICI Bank lost Rs 13,566.92 crore in its market valuation which stood at Rs 10,29,470.57 crore. Musk should stay out of politics: Bessent

A day after Elon Musk escalated his feud with Donald Trump and announced the formation of a new U.S. political party, the president's Treasury secretary said Musk should stick to running his companies. And investment firm Azoria Partners, which had planned to launch a fund tied to Musk's automaker Tesla, said it was delaying the venture because the party's creation posed "a conflict with his full-time responsibilities as CEO". Musk said on Saturday he was establishing the "America Party" in response to Trump's tax-cut and spending bill, which Musk claimed would bankrupt the country.
