WPP names Microsoft's Cindy Rose as CEO

British ad group WPP named board member Cindy Rose as its new chief executive on Thursday, handing the top job to a senior executive from Microsoft a day after it downgraded profit forecasts. Rose has been on the board since 2019 and will take over from outgoing CEO Mark Read on Sept. 1, the company said. The company had said that Read would step down at the end of the year. Rose has spent the last nine years in senior leadership positions at Microsoft, where she rose to Chief Operating Officer, Global Enterprise after formerly being head of its UK business. Prior to that she worked at Vodafone and Virgin Media. Gold prices near 1-week low at 96,549/10 grams amid tariff war. Should you buy the dip?

Gold August futures contracts at MCX opened flat, near their 1-week low, at Rs 96,549/ 10 grams on Thursday, which was slightly up by Rs 88 or 0.09%. The prices were supported by a slight retreat in the dollar and bond yields, while investors kept a close tab on trade negotiations as U.S. President Donald Trump broadened his tariff war.Meanwhile, silver September futures contracts opened higher by Rs 218 or 0.2% at Rs 1,07,483/kg.On Thursday, gold and silver settled on a slightly weaker note in the domestic market and on a mixed note in the international markets. Telcos divided over microwave spectrum

Telcos such Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea have sided with tech players and equipment makers while seeking administrative allocation of microwave spectrum unlike the market leader Reliance Jio. But each group has different rationales. Reliance Jio has backed auction for all microwave spectrum and E/V bands, arguing that auction will prevent hoarding of backhaul airwaves."We submit that the administrative assignment of spectrum is not a prudent or legally tenable policy, especially when the spectrum bands cannot be termed as purely backhaul," Jio said in its comments to Trai.
