According to the notification issued by UoK for the 2025-2027 session, only two colleges are recognised by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and have invited applications from eligible candidates for admission to two-year BEd programmes. Syed Masroor Andrabi, chairperson of Chinab Valley College of Education, said BEd colleges in Kashmir stood at the verge of closure.

A bench of Justices B V Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan said that there cannot be punishment before trial and directed release of the accused who already spent 18 months in jail. They were allegedly involved in tampering of evidence by swapping blood samples of their kids with their own. Father of the main accused, who is a minor and was allegedly driving the case, is still in jail.
