Customs duty changes announced in the Union Budget 2026–27 will lower prices for a range of essential items, including 17 cancer drugs and medicines and specialised nutrition used in the treatment of seven rare diseases, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while presenting the Budget in Parliament on Sunday. Duties have also been reduced on microwave oven components, easing manufacturing costs.At the same time, higher basic customs duty on select imports will push up prices of certain goods, notably low-cost imported umbrellas and ATM and cash dispensing machines.
