Carlos Alcaraz won his maiden Australian Open by defeating Novak Djokovic, completing a career Grand Slam at 22 to become the youngest ever to do so. The victory earned him AUD 4.15 million, but Australian tax laws mean he will lose about 32.5 per cent, roughly AUD 1.35 million, leaving him with under AUD 2.8 million despite the historic triumph.
