Chess | Anand's strange take on Carlsen - 'He used to be quite a limited player'

Viswanathan Anand revealed that Magnus Carlsen was a “limited” player in his early days, excelling mainly in endgames and technical positions. Reflecting on losing the 2013 World Championship and the 2014 rematch, Anand admitted struggling to adapt to new trends before rediscovering his form. He said their later battles were far more balanced but still went Carlsen’s way.
