PM MODI UNVEILS ₹2,700+ CRORE DEVELOPMENT PUSH IN PUDUCHERRY

PUDUCHERRY | 2026 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over ₹2,700 crore, accelerating Puducherry’s transformation under the ‘BEST’ vision — Business, Education, Spirituality and Tourism.

Describing Puducherry as the land of Siddhars, saints, poets and freedom fighters, the Prime Minister recalled the nationalist spirit of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati and the global spiritual vision of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.

• Record ₹12 lakh crore national infrastructure allocation under Union Budget  
• Inclusion under ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment’ scheme

• Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Engineering Block & hostel facilities at NIT Karaikal inaugurated  
• Infrastructure upgrades at Pondicherry University  
• Thousands of government vacancies filled  
• Electric buses under PM e-Bus Sewa introduced for green mobility  
• Housing, desalination plants, new STPs & flood mitigation projects across Puducherry, Karaikal, Mahe & Yanam  

The Prime Minister emphasised that empowered youth remain the foundation of national growth, with education, employment, green mobility and resilient infrastructure driving improved Ease of Living.
