Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple rail and road infrastructure projects worth more than ₹3,250 crore at Malda, West Bengal, marking a decisive leap in India’s journey toward world-class connectivity and inclusive national growth.

In a historic milestone, the Prime Minister flagged off the country’s FIRST VANDE BHARAT SLEEPER TRAIN — symbolically connecting the land of Mother Kali (Bengal) with the land of Mother Kamakhya (Assam). This landmark initiative beautifully integrates faith, culture, and cutting-edge Indian engineering.

“This modern sleeper train will expand across the entire country,” the Prime Minister stated, congratulating Bengal, Assam, and the entire nation on this transformative achievement.

STRENGTHENING NORTH–SOUTH & EAST – WEST CONNECTIVITY

Bengal has received FOUR new AMRIT BHARAT EXPRESS trains, significantly enhancing connectivity between North Bengal and South & West India:

  • New Jalpaiguri – Nagercoil Amrit Bharat Express
  • New Jalpaiguri – Tiruchchirappalli Amrit Bharat Express
  • Alipurduar – Bengaluru Amrit Bharat Express
  • Alipurduar – Mumbai Amrit Bharat Express

These routes bridge economic zones, cultural corridors, and opportunity clusters, reducing travel time while boosting trade, tourism, employment, and people-to-people exchange.

A NATIONAL VISION ON TRACK

Today’s projects reaffirm India’s commitment to:

  • Balanced regional development
  • Last-mile connectivity
  • Integrated national markets
  • Sustainable, future-ready infrastructure

This is not merely about trains and roads. It is about NATION-BUILDING — where speed meets spirituality, and progress moves in harmony with heritage.

INDIA MOVES FORWARD — CONNECTED • CONFIDENT • UNSTOPPABLE
